Endoscopic Pyloromyotomy: Overview and Early Experience

چکیده
Post-vagotomy Gastroparesis occurs in 15-50% of patients following esophagectomy with gastric interposition, and results in aspiration pneumonia, persistent nausea, intolerance of oral intake, weight loss, and poor quality of life (QoL). Subsequently, this can contribute to significant morbidity and mortality in these patients. Currently, the efficacy of pyloric drainage procedures to prevent post-vagotomy gastroparesis remains controversial.

Endoscopic Endonasal Transsphenoidal Approach for Pituitary Adenomas: a Prospective Review of Our Early Experience
Background & Aim: Pituitary adenomas are a part of a dissimilar group of benign neoplasms. The development of endoscopic techniques for surgery of paranasal sinuses has increased the opportunity for an endoscopic approach with regard to the pituitary gland. Minimally invasive endoscopic pituitary surgery, in turn, permits a more thorough tumor resection and fewer associated surgical complicatio...
متن کاملSuccessful combination of endoscopic pyloromyotomy and balloon dilatation for hypertrophic pyloric stenosis in an older child: A novel procedure
BACKGROUND Hypertrophic pyloric stenosis (HPS) is a rare cause of gastric outlet obstruction beyond infancy. Ramstedt pyloromyotomy remains the gold standard treatment for HPS. This type of HPS can be managed successfully with pyloromyotomy under laparoscopic or open procedures. Endoscopic pyloric balloon dilation (EPBD) has not been recommended in the treatment of HPS, and there are only a sma...
متن کاملEndoscopic pyloromyotomy for postesophagectomy gastric outlet obstruction.
Postesophagectomy gastric outlet obstruction occurs in 20%–30% of patients who undergo esophagectomy and is associated with significant morbidity and delayed recovery [1]. Recently, endoscopic pyloromyotomy, also called gastric peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM), has been reported, in pigs and in a patient with refractory diabetic gastroparesis [2, 3]. We report a case of postesophagectomy delay...
متن کاملEarly Experience With Laparoscopic Pyloromyotomy in a Teaching Institution
OBJECTIVE Hypertrophic pyloric stenosis is a common pediatric surgical condition. A Ramstedt pyloromyotomy is performed either via laparotomy or laparoscopy. We report our first 25 cases of laparoscopic pyloromyotomy at an academic children's hospital. METHODS From January 2002 through February 2003, we retrospectively reviewed our first 25 laparoscopic pyloromyotomies. All patients had docum...
متن کاملModified peroral pyloromyotomy and placement of a covered stent for refractory gastric outlet obstruction following ingestion of sulfuric acid.
A 15-year-old boy accidentally ingested a mouthful of sulfuric acid (160g/L). He presented 20 days later with complaints of postprandial epigastric distress, repeated nonbilious vomiting, and marked weight loss (about 15kg). Barium swallow and endoscopy revealed antropyloric narrowing (●" Fig.1,●" Fig.2). Endoscopic balloon dilation was performed, and the symptoms were relieved. However, 2 mont...
